What Are Meridians, and Why Should They Be Unblocked?
The human body consists of various physical and subtle energy systems.
On a physical level, we have systems like the immune, endocrine, cardiovascular, circulatory, digestive, skeletal, respiratory, muscular, and nervous systems. On a subtle level, the body includes meridians, chakras, the aura, and other energy flows.
These energy systems directly influence the physical body. Each chakra’s energy flows through the meridians into the entire energy body, which acts as a blueprint for the physical body. Every meridian is connected to a specific organ, and each organ is associated with particular emotions.
Meridians are internal energy pathways that network throughout the body, linking hundreds of acupuncture points beneath the skin’s surface. They serve as channels for chi, the vital energy that sustains life.
There are 14 main meridians (12 plus 2), all part of a larger energy pathway. This pathway flows through the body, appearing at the surface 12 times, with different sections named after the primary organ they influence. The additional two meridians, known as the Governing and Central meridians, run along the spine and the front of the torso. These directly connect with the external environment, allowing energy to flow into and out of the body.
Like arteries deliver blood to organs, meridians carry energy to support and sustain them. They transport life force, remove blockages, and maintain balance within the body.
Fundamental Principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine
The Yin-Yang principle categorizes all things into opposing yet complementary forces—negative and positive energies that flow into one another. For life to function smoothly, these forces must remain balanced.
Kinesiology helps restore this balance when it is disrupted.
Traditional Chinese Medicine also organizes all aspects of life into the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.
- Generating Cycle (Sheng Cycle):
Each element strengthens the next:- Wood feeds Fire
- Fire creates ash to nourish the Earth
- The Earth produces Metal
- Metal condenses into liquid, creating Water
- Water nourishes Wood
- Controlling Cycle (Co Cycle):
Each element regulates another two steps ahead to maintain balance:- Wood stabilizes Earth with its roots
- Earth contains Water with its banks
- Water extinguishes Fire
- Fire melts Metal
- Metal cuts Wood
Each element corresponds to two meridians, named after the primary organ they influence. Energy flows continuously in cycles through these meridians, peaking in one every two hours based on the body’s natural biological clock or organ clock.
Twelve hours after reaching its peak, each meridian enters a low-energy phase to allow for rest and recovery.
Affirmations for Meridians
Every meridian also has associated affirmations to strengthen its energy:
- Governing Meridian: “I am my own support.”
- Central Meridian: “I am in control of myself. I can focus.”
- Stomach Meridian: “I am satisfied.”
- Spleen-Pancreas Meridian: “I relax and enjoy life. I release worry.”
- Lung Meridian: “I am open, curious, and interested.”
- Large Intestine Meridian: “I let go of the past and welcome new challenges.”
- Bladder Meridian: “I take control of my life. I am in charge.”
- Kidney Meridian: “I love my life with all its challenges.”
- Liver Meridian: “I enjoy the variety of life.”
- Gallbladder Meridian: “I choose what is good for me.”
- Heart Meridian: “I know who I am and love what I do.”
- Small Intestine Meridian: “I do what I need and find joy in it.”
- Triple Warmer Meridian: “I am balanced in my life and within myself.”
- Circulation-Sex (Pericardium) Meridian: “I forgive myself and others.”
Supporting Meridian Energy Flow
Techniques like kinesiology, meridian yoga, and acupressure and quantum energy can help release blockages and restore energy flow:
- Meridian Yoga: Combines stretching, massage, and stress-relieving exercises tailored to the meridian system. Each session focuses on specific meridians, emotions, and organs to balance the energy flow.
- Meridian Massage: This acupressure-based technique follows the meridian pathways, stimulating points to unblock energy and activate the body’s natural healing processes. It can alleviate physical and emotional tension, improve circulation, and relax muscles.
- Quantum Informational Technology: Using the principles of the Chinese Five Elements, this cutting-edge approach identifies which acupuncture points need support. Energy is then directed to these points, and the information is downloaded from the quantum field to flow continuously, 24/7, supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual harmony.
